Ron Soonieus

Ron advises senior management and boards to set their sustainability and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) agenda and to integrate these topics into the heart of corporate strategy, governance and culture.

He works as Senior Advisor at The Boston Consulting Group and through his independent advisory practice. As Executive in Residence at INSEAD he focusses on ‘the role of the board on sustainability / ESG’ in cooperation with the INSEAD Corporate Governance Centre and the Hoffmann Global Institute for Business and Society. In addition Ron teaches sustainability in the INSEAD International Directors Programme.

Ron co-founded the Radix Centre for Business Politics and Society, a thinktank focused on aligning public policy with responsible business. He is also a member of the board and chair of the audit committee at the University of the Arts in The Netherlands and an active member of the INSEAD International Directors Network.

Ron has extensive experience in sustainable leadership gained through roles in the executive management and on boards of companies throughout Europe, Middle East, India, United States and South America. He has worked with organizations in a variety of industries including financial services, private equity, high tech, industry, manufacturing, ICT, professional services and in various non-profit institutions.

He has given guest lectures on corporate sustainability at a variety of leading business schools and contributed to books and has written articles and papers about the subject published in media such as the (Dutch) Financial Times, Harvard Business Review (HBR), Management & Business Review (MBR), Harvard Business Manager (Germany), The Wall Street Journal, IFC Word Bank Group, Management Scope, Insead Knowledge, the Radix thinktank and Board Agenda.

Ron studied international management and business administration at the university of Huddersfield (United Kingdom) and INSEAD (France), and is an alumnus of the INSEAD Non-executive directors programme. He was listed “world leading management thinker” by Management & Business Review (MBR), named one of the world’s “100 Green Board Members” and a winner of the EFMD case competition with INSEAD’s boards and sustainability business case: “Barry Callebaut: Forever Chocolate”
